Eagar Aquatics delighted to bag 85 medals at champs
Swimmers from Eagar Aquatics Swimming Academy performed well during the Sasol National Winter Swimming Championship in Sasolburg from June 29 to July 4.
POLOKWANE – Swimmers from Eagar Aquatics Swimming Academy performed well during the Sasol National Winter Swimming Championship in Sasolburg from June 29 to July 4.
The swimmers bagged 85 medals, 34 gold, 26 silver and 25 bronze.
The individual medal winners:
• Miandi Oosthuizen won two gold medals, five silver medals and five bronze medals.
• Antoinette Fuchs won two silver medals and one bronze medal.
• Laura Lennox won one silver medal.
• Sule van der Merwe won 10 gold medals and three silver medals.
• Ashleigh Hunter won one gold medal, three silver medals and three bronze medals.
• Johan Jannash won three gold medals.
• Ivan Beukes won one gold medal two, silver medals and three bronze medals.
• Kyle Bridger won one bronze medal.
• Franco Clayton won one bronze medal.
• Kamalan Naidoo won three silver medals and two bronze medals.
• Ethan Anderson won one silver medal and one bronze medal.
• Don Hunter won one bronze medal.
• Ude Fuchs won 13 gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal. He also received the senior Victor Ludorum trophy.
There were also a few swimmers who set new records:
• Miandi Oosthuizen – 100 m breast stroke.
• Marjone de Beer – 200 m back stroke.
• Franco Clayton – 200 m breast stroke.
• Son Hunter – 200 m back stroke.
Eagar Aquatics came second overall, their seniors placed third and their juniors second.
“The juniors produced a lot of new comers and upcoming stars,” said Eagar Aquatics swimming coach, Ilani Swanepoel.
“We are very proud of our swimmers they did really well, and we are looking forward to see what the rest of the season have in store for us,” said Douggie Eagar, Eagar Aquatics head coach.
