PHALABORWA – HAROLD ‘Sticker’ Ndlovu (24) from Phalaborwa is passionate about soccer and information technology.

“I am currently studying computer science at the University of Limpopo. I must say it’s not easy finding a balance between soccer and academic work, but I work extra hard to be good at both.”

As for soccer, he has been playing since he was eight years old and has not stopped since.

“My father was a goal keeper in the local team back in the day, and used to take me along to some of the games and my love for soccer grew from there.

“I remember wanting to be just like him, having fans screaming my name and being a hero by saving the balls from landing at the back of the net.”

Today, he is the goal keeper for Polokwane City second team and proud of his achievements.

“Earlier, I played in the Danone soccer tournament and later joined the Mokopane Academy. I have also played in the Vodacom league and have been playing for UL since my first year.”

Sticker says from playing in the dusty grounds in his home town he has come a long way.

“I am grateful for the opportunity as I am able to showcase my skills on the pitch. My big wish is to play in the PSL and hopefully one day I will travel overseas to pursue my dream.”

He looks up to players such as Marumo Modira and Maeenu Mayala not only for their skills, but also for the advice they have to offer.

Sticker advises young stars to take part in sport to keep occupied.
