LIMPOPO – THABANG ‘Contact Number’ Letsoalo is the brain and driving force behind the emergence of baseball in the province.
Although Letsoalo says his intention is not to wipeout softball, he is adamant that baseball is set to entrench itself on the dusty pitches of the province.
“It is those in leadership who are killing the sport. They destroyed teams in rural areas and those in the townships. That is why we are targeting places where softball is dead.”
LSA president Derrick Mahapa also punched holes into Letsoalo’s mission, saying “Softball is deeply rooted in the province and in the country.
“The emergence of baseball reflects growth in the sporting environment.
“The introduction of baseball will push softball for an intensive development.
“Although baseball is everywhere in the country, it has always played second fiddle to softball. I personally wish baseball growth even though I’ve seen it failing several times.”
