Trials hit bulls-eye

Some 22 darts players from across Limpopo gathered at the Mimosa Hall on Saturday for the second Capricorn darts trials.

POLOKWANE – Some 22 darts players from across Limpopo gathered at the Mimosa Hall on Saturday for the second Capricorn darts trials.

The trials served as preparation for the South African darts championships, which will take place in Johannesburg in July.

Two more trials will be held before the Limpopo Darts can finalise the team that will participate in the championships.

Sanna Viljoen, Limpopo Darts public relations officer, said the trials were well supported and attended.

She said three new players from the University of Limpopo joined the club and took part.

“We are happy to welcome three new players to the sport.

“This shows that the sport is heading in the right direction and is growing slowly but surely,” said Viljoen.

She said they still needed more players to join the sport.

Khutjo Malatji, one of the new players who joined the club, said she had been searching for a darts club with no luck.

“Maria Mochechela, University of Limpopo darts coordinator referred us to Limpopo Darts. We are happy to be part of the club and we look forward to learn new darts tricks and skills,” said Malatji.
