Reese ready to defend SA squash title for 2nd year

Reese Bain (15), the South African u/14 squash champion, says she is ready to defend her title again this year.

POLOKWANE – Reese Bain (15), the South African u/14 squash champion, says she is ready to defend her title again this year.

Reese won the title when she was only 13-years-old and had competed in the u/14 category.

This year, she will compete in the u/16 category and says she has butterflies in her stomach, but she is confident she will win the title again.

In order for her to retain the title, she has to compete in and win various tournaments throughout the year.

“Being named u/14 champion came as a surprise to me. I have been preparing for this year’s tournament since the beginning of the year and I am confident I will win. I will also compete in the inter-provincial squash games to take place somewhere in May in Bloemfontein,” says Reese.

She says she would like to make it to the South African top 10 squash players and compete in big squash leagues.

Reese started taking part in squash when she was 10 years old. She also participates in other sporting codes such as cycling and athletics and says she enjoy them all.

“You need to know your sport very well to excel in it. You should have passion and determination in order to succeed,” she says.

Her mother, Samantha, says she is proud of Reese, who obtained her achievements through commitment, hark work and passion.
