Bowling fun for all ages

The Pietersburg Bowling Club hosted a special bowling tournament on Saturday to celebrate Valentine's Day.

POLOKWANE – The Pietersburg Bowling Club hosted a special bowling tournament on Saturday to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

One of the participants, Jules Coetzer, said the tournament was intended as a social meeting and brought bowling enthusiasts together for a lovely day on the lawns at the club.

“After a beautiful game of bowls, we had a delicious meal in the club’s hall,” Coetzer explained.

Coetzer, who started participating in bowling in his later years, said bowling was a game for all ages.

“The game is very relaxing and social. I wish I started taking part at an earlier age. Young people should join the club and find out how much fun this game can be,” he said.

He introduced Review to Joey Thom who, at 87, is the oldest member of the Pietersburg Bowling Club.

“Bowling is one of the best games to play for people of all ages, but young people have the impression that it is only a game for older people. This is not true. Bowling is for everyone. The more you play, the more you will enjoy the game,” Coetzer said.
