Golfers swing at monthly medal

Golfers gathered at the Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday to battle it out in the Mike's Chicken Monthly Medal golf challenge.

POLOKWANE – Golfers gathered at the Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday to battle it out in the Mike’s Chicken Monthly Medal golf challenge.

The challenge was played by 95 golfers. Goitsemang “Pappa G” Motseki, golf club captain and Charlie Smith, golf club manager, also took part in the tournament.

Jakes Jacobs made the jackpot draw at holes three, five, 10 and 18 but no one managed to win. The jackpot now stands at R2 670 with only R2 136 payable at this stage.

 

The results were as follows:

• A-division

1. Safraaz Sulliman with 69 points.

2. Nico Myburgh with 70 points.

• B-division

1. Goitsemang “Pappa G” Motseki with 70 points.

2. Charlie Smith with 70 points on a count out.

• C-division

1. A Khan with 66 points.

2. Thomas Mnguni with 69 points.

• Ladies’ silver

Lynette Smith with 77 points.

• Ladies’ bronze

Bev Weijters – 76 points.

Smith said this year promised to be a good one and all member fees and subscriptions remained unchanged.

He further encouraged teams to complete their 2015 Baobab Golf Challenge entry forms on time to avoid disappointments and regrets.

On Wednesday, golfers will compete in a stableford format golf challenge that is sponsored by Pick n Pay Cycad.

Teams that will take part in the 2015 Baobab Golf Challenge are urged to fill in their forms as soon as possible. The forms can be collected at the Polo-kwane Golf Club’s reception.
