FOUR Vhembe soccer players from Benny’s Care Sports Academy were selected to attend the annual Mamelodi Sundowns FC Academy training camp.

The four players attended a training camp at the club’s Chloorkop headquarters between November 28 and December 5.

Lucky Manyane, Ernest Monyadziwa, Thabang Chiloane and Hemaxwi Mutshidzi were spotted during the u/19 Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup’s national final that was played in Soshanguve in September.

All players in the final were closely observed by scouts from Mamelodi Sundowns FC. The scouts selected the 24 most promising players and invited them to attend a training camp to see what they were capable of.

Benny Mufamadi, Benny’s Care Sports Academy managing director, confirmed that four of his players were invited for the camp to train with the other 19 players who were selected.

Justice Matloga, Benny’s Care Sports Academy head coach, said they had an agreement with Sundowns that scouts would visit the academy more often to select players before other teams could do so. He added that the academy had produced professional players who were now playing in the National First Division (NFD) league.

Matloga mentioned Wiseman Maluleke who played for Jomo Cosmos, Lloyd Dalane and Ivan Mahangwahaya who played for Black Leopards, and Thapelo Mulaudzi, who was with SuperSport United FC. These stars were all former academy players.

He added that the academy was doing well and that all the players were committed.

“I believe that these four players will make us proud and work their way to the top. I want to see them playing for Mamelodi Sundowns FC in the near future,” Matloga said.
