P&L Cycling Club hosted their annual cycle road club championships on Saturday

LOUIS TRICHARDT – P&L Cycling Club hosted their annual cycle road club championships on Saturday.

The race route started and finished at Northwich near Louis Trichardt and circled to Waterpoort and back, covering 55km.

Race organiser, Renda Alexander, said club members were very happy with the number of entries and the results of the race.

“Six of our club’s best cyclists formed a group at the front of the race and all finished within seconds of each other,” she said.

Marco Roets won the race in a time of 1:30:25, with Kombo Bere, Zian van der Heever, Nico Geldenhuys, Chris Knoesen and Rick Coetzee short on his heels. Roets also finished the famous Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge junior category in 14th place on November 16.

“We were pleased to be able to welcome cyclists from as far as Polokwane and would like to thank Northwich for their hospitality.

“We also want to thank Maud Myburgh for the medical assistance,” Alexander said.

The club’s Mountain Bike Club Championships will take place this Saturday from 08:00. The race will start at the XCO Start Terrain at the Komatiland Forestry in Hanglip and is a 30km ride.
