1-0 win for Dynamics FC

THE head coach of Dynamics FC, Ike Makgakga said a lack of sponsorship was the reason for the club's failure to participate in the local league.

POLOKWANE – THE head coach of Dynamics FC, Ike Makgakga said a lack of sponsorship was the reason for the club’s failure to participate in the local league.

Dynamics, who are the team to beat in the Top Four Tournament in Extension 75, added another silverware to their cabinet when they were crowned champions of the Westenburg Mini Challenge after a 1-0 victory over FC Zamalek at the Westenburg Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Dynamics’ nerves were stretched when they needed a 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Twente FC from Botlokwa to book a place in the final, which had R1 800 at stake.

Twente were provided with another opportunity to redeem themselves against Zamalek, but after a 1-1 full time score, history repeated itself as Zamalek won the lottery of penalties with the same score line.

Makgakga said the players were fit and ready to compete in the league, and he pleaded with good Samaritans to sponsor them.

“We are happy with the victory. We have been winning and time has come for us to compete with other clubs in a league format. We do not have money to affiliate with the league and we appeal to sponsors to make our dreams come true. Our players are committed and disciplined, testing our skills against the best in the league is our aim and winning the league would be a dream come true,” said Makgakga.

Dynamics took home a winner-takes-all amount of R1 800 for their efforts.

Organisers of the tournament Nyiko Sithole and Dumisani Shirinda, said the tournament aimed to keep players fit during the off season and to maintain strong friendships between local clubs.

“We had a team from as far as Botlokwa, and in our next tournament, we will feature more clubs to build more friendship,” Shirinda said.

Three- goal hero Itumeleng Seshweni of Dynamics FC uses his strength to win the ball ahead of Maradona Masemola of FC Zamalek.
Moses “Iniesta” Ramoshaba of FC Zamalek avoids a tackle from Twente FC’ s David Ranoko in the semi-finals of the Westenburg Mini Challenge, which FC Zamalek won on 5-3 on penalties.
