3 top players to boost Leopards

Two successive losses against Royal Eagles and Thanda Royal Zulu have prompted National First Division club, Black Leopards, to bolster their squad.

Two successive losses against Royal Eagles and Thanda Royal Zulu have prompted National First Division club, Black Leopards, to bolster their squad.

Lidoda Duvha have signed former Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits defender, Thomas Sweswe, exciting youngster, Ndamulelo “Shoes” Mugadi, and Nike Academy product, Jonathan King.

Rambo, as Sweswe is known in football circles, has been offered a season long contract while the former Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars dribbling wizard Mugadi and King both penned three-year deals with the Venda based Black Leopards.

Mugadi shot to fame last year when Mamelodi Sundowns chased his signature but the 21-year-old Ha-Makhuvha born midfielder opted to continue his stay in the Free State.

Leopards spokesperson, Barry Ramunenyiwa, confirmed that the trio have joined the club.

“I can confirm that Thomas Sweswe, Ndamulelo Mugadi and Jonathan King are now our players.

“Sweswe has a wealth of experience that will come in handy in our quest to gain promotion to the Premier Soccer League.

“Mugadi is an exciting youngster. He impressed the coaches and he is a great acquisition for the club. King has a special talent and he will contribute to the club’s success,” Ramunenyiwa said.

Lidoda Duvha enjoyed a three-match winning spree without conceding a goal recently, but they went off the track when they suffered a 1-0 loss against Royal Eagles, followed by a 3-0 thumping at the hands of Thanda Royal Zulu last Wednesday.

“We are going to do all it takes to keep our team competitive. You can expect more signings during the January transfer window because all we want is to see our team back to where we belong, in the PSL,” Ramunenyiwa added.

Sweswe has recovered from his career threatening knee injury, the reason Wits did not renew his contract.

He is likely to partner up with Harry Nyirenda at the heart of the team’s defence when Lidoda Duvha host Highlands Park at Thohoyandou Stadium Saturday.
