600 runners lace up for this race

More than 600 runners laced up their running shoes to compete in the Nguni Grill and Run/Walk For Life 3-in-1 race on Saturday morning.

POLOKWANE – More than 600 runners laced up their running shoes to compete in the Nguni Grill and Run/Walk For Life 3-in-1 race on Saturday morning.

Hilda Molokomme of Pietersburg Road Runners took first place in the 21,1km race in both the junior and the open categories.

Tlou Peu from MAD Multisport took first place in the 21,1km.

Linda Were and Kobie Marais, both from Run/Walk For Life won the 21,1km walkers’ category.

In the 10km road race, Magwai Regan won the open category in a time of 33:35 followed by Ludwig Mamabolo from Nedbank in a time of 34:16. Rufus Photo from Pietersburg Road Runners took third place in a time of 34:23.

Solomon Maja won the 10km junior race in a time of 36:52. Charles Selowa won the 10km veteran category in a time of 40:12 and Isreal Madibane won the master’s category in a time of 42:01.

Joelanda du Plessis won the 10km walkers’ category.

“We would like to thank Nguni Grill and all the people who helped with entries and every runner who came to support the event,” said Kobie Marais, manager of Run/Walk For Life.

Marais also thanked referee, Roelf Coetzee, Coca-Cola Fortune, Waterberg, Polokwane Athletic Club, Pietersburg Road Runners, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Polokwane traffic department, Matsobane Ambulance Services and Franci Vorster from Discovery for their input.

Pietersburg Road Runners won the trophy for the best water point on the route.
