Golf day to benefit the SPCA

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Polokwane held its annual four-ball alliance golf challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club

POLOKWANE – The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Polokwane held its annual four-ball alliance golf challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club last Thursday.

The challenge aimed to raise money for the society.

According to SPCA chairperson, Johann Loubser, the golf challenge was well attended, and they raised more than R30 000.

“We host such gatherings annually to raise money, so we can be able to look after the animals. We want to thank everyone who attended the golf challenge and donated money,” said Loubser.

Dawid van der Walt, J. de Jager, Morné Myburgh and Riaan Nel won the challenge with 66 points.

They were followed by Nelson Marais, Anton van Vuuren, Duncan Menzies and P. Pretorius with 62 points.

Myburgh claimed the prize for playing nearest to pin at the eighth hole, while Eugene van der Walt received a prize for playing nearest to the pin at hole 11.

Ferdi Kirsten received a prize for the longest drive at the second hole, while Raymond Pratt received a prize for playing the longest drive at hole 10.
