6 PEMPS karatekas bring the JKA medals home

Six learners from Pemps, who are part of the Active JKA Karate Club, scooped medals during the JKA Championships

Six learners from Pemps, who are part of the Active JKA Karate Club, scooped medals during the JKA Championships, which were held at Noorderland High School on September 27.

More than six junior karate clubs participated in the championships.

According to Pemps’ karate coach, sensei Eliphus Ntata, a third dan black belt holder, the club did exceptionally well.

“I think we did better than last year and we plan to claim first prize next year. I am proud of the karatekas and I believe they will continue with this pace and prepare thoroughly for next year’s championships,” said Ntata.

Active JKA Karate Club is now preparing for the grading belt ceremony, which will be held at Pemps in November.

Kealeboga Talane, one of the karatekas, said they tried their best during the championships, and looked forward to the grading belt ceremony.

 

Prizes:

• Mbuyelo Tshivhandekano – gold medal for kata.

• Shaun Phillip – silver medal for kumite.

• Kamogelo Maphutha – bronze medal kata.

• Kealeboga Talane – bronze medal for kata and another bronze medal for kumite.

• Lethabo Seoloane – silver medal for kata.

• Oringa Maudu – silver medal for kata.
