Great day for sport thanks to this challenge

NKOWANKOWA Barcelona and Shinning Stars were crowned as Nkowankowa Sports Challenge soccer and netball champions respectively at Nkowankowa Stadium last Saturday.

Barcelona beat Lenyenye Killer Ocean 5-1 in the semi-finals and proceeded to win 3-1 the finals against Julesburg Development in the finals. Julesburg Development thrashed Mandlhakazi Star 5-0 in their semi-final game.

Shinning Stars crushed Mokhapa 28-7 in the semi-finals and overcame Mapheto 27-2 in the finals. Mapheto narrowly defeated Mokhapa 16-14.

For their efforts, the winning teams in both soccer and netball received new kits, trophies and gold medals, while the runners-up in soccer got a kit and silver medals. The runners-up in netball only received silver medals.

The sport challenge was sponsored by Dr Ishmael Maremanyana Nhlangwana, his wife Hendrietha, and son Dr Vulombe Nhlangwana as their way of giving back to the community.
