Brendon Reddy and Stanley Sagehevan were crowned as winners of the Meropa Casino and Entertainment World golf challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club

Brendon Reddy and Stanley Sagehevan were crowned as winners of the Meropa Casino and Entertainment World golf challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday.

The challenge, which was played in a betterball stableford with a scramble drive format, saw 126 golfers from across the province compete.

The challenge aimed to raise money for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) to assist people who battle cancer.

The amount that was raised on the day was not available by the time of going to print.

Reddy and Sagehevan won the challenge with 51 points, followed by Dirk Botha and J du Toit with 50 points.

Bev Weijters received an award for the longest drive at the second hole in the women’s ca-tegory, while Freek van der Berg was awarded for the longest drive at the 18th hole in the men’s ca-tegory.

Edwin Mackays claimed the prize for playing nearest to the pin at the fourth hole.

Phil Swanson was awarded for playing nearest to the pin at the eighth hole.

Naas Vorster received the prize for playing nearest to the pin at the 11th hole, while Brandon Reddy was awarded for playing nearest to the pin at the 16th hole.

Ria du Plessis, Cansa community mobiliser, said the tournament was well supported.

“Thank you to everyone who contributed towards making this the successful day it was.”
