Pedal power in Lentetrap race

This year's EH Hassim Lentetrap Mountain Bike Race at the Polokwane Game Reserve on Sunday saw over 400 cyclists taking part.

POLOKWANE – This year’s EH Hassim Lentetrap Mountain Bike Race at the Polokwane Game Reserve on Sunday saw over 400 cyclists taking part.

Polokwane Pedallers organiser, Neels Lourens, said the warm weather also contributed to the large turn-out of cyclists.

Maurice Ferreira won the 74km men’s race in a time of 02:27:33. In second place was Allan Gordon, with Bernard Bronkhorst taking third place.

Liesl Lourens won the 74km women’s race in a time of 02:47:48. Elenor O’Hare finished in second place, while Andri Cronjé finished in third place.

Ferreira and Lourens both won R1 500 for their sterling efforts.

Kombo Bere won the men’s 37km half marathon in a time of 01:19:36. The overall winner of the women’s 37km half marathon was Ashley-Lynn Murray in a time of 01:18:25.

Results of 15km fun ride:

• Stephan Visagie – junior boys 13 to 14 years.

• Kayla Snyman – junior girls 13 to 14 years.

• Anthony Archer – sprogs boys 11 to 12 years.

• Jessica Dos Ramos – sprogs girls 11 to 12 years.

• Johan van der Heever – boys nippers u/10.

• Anushka Neethling – girls nippers u/10.
