Brian ready for Dakar 2015

Brian Baragwanath claimed his fifth consecutive victory in the fifth and penultimate round of the national off-road motorcycle and quad championships recently.

POLOKWANE – Brian Baragwanath claimed his fifth consecutive victory in the fifth and penultimate round of the national off-road motorcycle and quad championships recently.

The challenging but scenic route in the Free State differed from the previous four national events this season, in that it was the first 180km sprint event, whereas the first four races were standard events consisting of a total of 360km each.

On four wheels, Baragwanath led the race from start to finish.

Baragwanath again claimed the maximum amount of points towards the overall standings, as well as towards the Q1 Class Championship with his Yamaha Raptor 700. These points resulted in him effectively securing the overall crown as well as the Q1 Championship for 2014. The final round of the championship that takes place on September 27 in the Ventersdorp area.

With this latest victory, Baragwanath has secured the top spot on the national off-road quad championships’ podium, despite the outcome of the last and final round of the championships.

This means that he will tackle the 2015 Dakar Rally as the 2014 South African national quad winner and Q1 champion.

Baragwanath along with fellow Team Rhide SA riders recently qualified for the 2015 Dakar Rally set to take place in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile from January 4 to 17.

Team Rhide SA has been extremely busy since the acceptance of Baragwanath’s and Hannes Saaijman’s entries for the 2015 Dakar Rally.

Team Rhide SA has recently launched various fund raising projects as they are still in need of funds to participate in the 2015 Dakar Rally.
