POLOKWANE – Craig Carolan, the headmaster of Stanford Lake College was once again selected to be part of the South African masters’ hockey team, which will compete at the Hockey World Cup in Holland.

As part of their preparations for the Hockey World Cup, the South African masters’ team won silver at the European Open in Belfast in August last year.

Carolan ended the tournament as leading goal scorer with seven goals in seven games for South Africa.

The World Cup plays host to 74 international teams at senior, masters’ (over 40 years old) and grand masters’ (over 60 years old) level.

South Africa start their masters’ campaign at the Hockey World Cup today (Thursday) with their opening match against the US. South Africa have been drawn in the same pool as the US, Australia, Pakistan and Ireland.

“We wish all the South African teams the best of luck as they take on the best in the world in Holland,” said Rona McGaffin, marketer for the school.
