Rocky start to the season for Nirvana United

NIRVANA United suffered their second defeat in three matches when they lost 2-1 to Peace United in a Polokwane Local Football Association (Polfa) Junior League match at the Polokwane rugby stadium on Sunday.

The game went to half-time with no goals, but the lads from Nirvana showed heavy legs in the dying minutes of the match, conceding a rather dubious penalty, which Peace United converted.

With the Farhaan Suliman-coached side in a pinch, Peace United doubled their lead with a goal.

Lucky Digashu reduced the deficit to just one, but it was too little too late.

Nirvana’s opening match ended in a 0-0 draw against Laduma Sports Academy, followed by a 4-2 defeat against Limpopo Sports School Excellence, but Farhaan Suliman is confident the players are on the right track.

He said they lost the match through some individual mistakes, but would not hold this against the players.

“We made fatal errors and as a result lost the match. I must admit that, as coaches, we made some substitutions which did not work out and for that we must shoulder the blame,” said Suliman.

Peace United on the other hand are yet to lose a match in the opening stages of the league.

Their first two matches ended in a 2-2 draw and 4-2 win against Nubian Kings and Laduma Sports Academy respectively.
