Oldies shine in kit

GRANNIES who are members of the Seshego Golden Oldies Football Club will be sporting new colours from now on when they play their games.

GRANNIES who are members of the Seshego Golden Oldies Football Club will be sporting new colours from now on when they play their games.

This comes after funeral giant, Lebowa Funerals sponsored the club’s brand new soccer kit. The grandmothers could not believe their eyes when the gear was handed to them shortly after their game against Bochum’s Avon Freedom Power at Seshego Stadium’s ground B on Sunday afternoon.

The marketing manager of Lebowa Funerals, George Sethosa said they were the sponsors of the Seshego-based club and decided to buy Golden Oldies new kit as a way of giving back to the community. He said senior citizens were the pillars of their business and the company had to find a way to thank them.

“We have enjoyed the support of these ladies and other residents since 1976 and it is time we gave back to the community,” Sethosa said.

Sethosa, whose company organised a four-team tournament in order to hand-over the kit said the presence of the renowned Nkowankowa club, Vakhegula Vakhegula in the tournament made the day extra special.

The captain of Seshego Golden Oldies, Annah Kgofelo said the club was thrilled with the new kit. She said the players and the management were all praying for Lebowa Funerals to grow from strength to strength and to continue helping the needy.

“We would like to thank our sponsors for this good gesture and we urge them to continue doing this to uplift communities. Although we still need soccer boots and tracksuits for winter, the new kit will go a long way in motivating us”, said Kgofelo.

Golden Oldies did not have a good day on the field when they were hammered 4-0 by Vakhegula Vakhegula before surrendering a first half 2-0 lead to lose 4-2 against Avon Freedom Power from Bochum.
