Athlete’s dreams not over yet

It has been a year since Polokwane Athletic Club (PAC) athlete, Simon Ngoasheng, was injured while training for the Comrades Ultra Marathon.

POLOKWANE – It has been a year since Polokwane Athletic Club (PAC) athlete, Simon Ngoasheng, was injured while training for the Comrades Ultra Marathon.

Ngoasheng was hit by a truck and broke his arm. This prevented him from competing in the Comrades.

To assist him with money for an operation on his arm, PAC held a charity night race in November 2012, where R10 000 was raised and paid into a trust account at Philip Smit Attorneys in May.

According to the management of PAC, this money, together with the surplus from the third party claim, will not be used to recover legal expenses, but to pay for medical expenses.

Philip Smit confirmed that an account, the Philip Smit Attorney Trust Account, was opened at Absa for Ngoasheng and said they expected the third party claim to be paid out in the course of the new year.

Johan Janse van Vuuren, treasurer of PAC, said Ngoasheng started running again despite his injury, which was holding him back from competing.

Ngoasheng is adamant to compete in the 2014 Comrades Marathon.
