CP takes cycling laurels

P&L Cycling Club hosted their Mountain Bike Club Championships

P&L Cycling Club hosted their Mountain Bike Club Championships last Sunday.

With four time trials done during the year, the P&L Cycling Club Mountain Bike Championships was an event not to be missed.

Johan van Dijkhorst spent many days creating a brand new technical route in the Hanglip Komatiland Forest.

Cyclists from all over South Africa showed up to compete in this championships and the misty weather could not stop their enthusiasm as they took off.

“The first new obstacle to ride was The Mineshaft, a 100 metre fast vertical drop. Further down the road was a brand new Rock Garden with some lovely single tracks in between. The cyclists did two laps to complete the race,” said Renda Alexander, spokesperson for P&L Cycling Club.

Results:

1. CP van Wyk.

2. Lourens Beeslaar.

3. Nico Geldenhuys.

P&L Cycling Club thanked Komatiland Forestry for the use of their facilities and their kindness. “Without them, we would just dream of all the lovely routes to ride. Thanks to all the club members of P&L Cycling Club who helped out with timing, photographs and marketing of our event.

“We invite all mountain bikers to join us on all our club rides, time trials and events,” said Alexander.
