ORLANDO Pirates player, Tlou “Gautrain” Segolela will once again host a soccer and netball tournament at the Black Rovers Sports Grounds in Moletjie, Mabokelele, from December 24 to 31.

The tournament aims to assist local charity organisations, with proceeds being donated to these organisations, and to unearth local soccer and netball talent.

The tournament is hosted by the Tlou Segolela Sports Development (TSSD).

A total of 32 soccer teams and 16 netball teams have registered to compete in this tournament.

The winning team of the soccer tournament will walk away with R60 000 and an opportunity to present a R7 500 cheque to a charity organisation of their choice, while the netball winners will walk away with R8 000.

Mpho Moloto, chief operating officer of TSSD, says villagers will be able to trade and display their teams’ banners at the tournament.

Segolela says: “The tournament fully supports any charitable cause and it also aims to educate netball and soccer players about having fun while being engaged community services. When we started TSSD, we felt it was time to bring a tournament to our community where the funds raised will be donated to help local charities, help develop local teams and empower young talented soccer players who may have an opportunity to play in the Premier Soccer League”.

An official launch of the tournament will be held on December 18, where there will be a draw with coaches and captains of the selected teams together with all TSSD board members.
