Eagle-eyed archers prove their skill at interschool competition

Last Friday, Mokopane English Combined School (MECS) hosted an interschool Archery competition.

MOKOPANE – Thanks to the dedication of National Archery Schools Program (NASP) sport of archery is now available to school learners from Mokopane.

Last Friday, Mokopane English Combined School (MECS) hosted an interschool Archery competition. It was a memorable occasion where four schools from Mokopane competed. Laerskool Krugerpark stepped out as the winner, followed by Hoƫrskool Piet Potgieter, while the team from MECS took the third place. Chrysalis Private School made it a team effort and entered 28 learners, ranging from pre-school until FET phase.

The organisers, Roelf Spies and his officials, had a very supportive attitude which encouraged each archer to compete not only against each other, but also to trust themselves.

With NASP learners have the opportunity to compete locally and on national and international level. The local NASP organisers have already trained several basic archery instructors who are helping at the schools.

The high standard of the training and the backup of NASP ensures the sport is absolutely safe, even for very young children.

Learners who are interested in taking up archery can join the clubs at the schools, or contact Roelf Spies at 072 878 2473 for more information. Adults are welcome to join as well.
