Power to Youth Boxing extravaganza to be hosted at Meropa

The much anticipated tourney will see South African and boxers from Southern African Development Community battling for World Boxing Association titles.

POLOKWANE- The MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Rogers Monama says the Power to Youth Boxing extravaganza set for Meropa Casino and Entertainment World on June 23 will be a boost for the local economy.

Monama was speaking at the launch of the tournament, held at the venue on Friday.

Expected at the event are boxing fanatics from the Southern African Development Community as well as other provinces.

The much anticipated tourney will see South African and boxers from Southern African Development Community battling for World Boxing Association titles.

“Limpopo Provincial Government is glad to partner with Boxing South Africa in bringing sport tourism to the province. This will boost the provincial economy as hospitality establishments will benefit from the tourists visiting the province for the event,” Monama said.

He added that an event of has all the ingredients required for attracting guests to the city.

“We want Limpopo to be the epicentre of events of this nature, and as such it is important that we invest in boxing as a province. This sport has in the past proven to attract a lot of attention.”
