Ria Ledwaba Foundation donates blankets to New Horizon
Ria Ledwaba has urged individuals, companies, businesspeople, organisations and volunteers to get on board with her foundation to assist the community, schools and shelters in every way possible.
POLOKWANE- The Ria Ledwaba Foundation is committed to present life opportunities for young women and men through sport, among others, by ensuring that previously disadvantaged South Africans receive the support needed to compete professionally.
A former teacher at New Horizon Special School, Moipone Bopape along with other school staff approached the foundation, requesting blankets for boarding house learners.
“The foundation assisted as no child deserves to sleep without something warm, especially because they’re at the hostel,” Bopape said.
During the event held last Monday, departmental head Rocky Makgoka was programme director for the day as she warmly welcomed guests and learners.
Ledwaba said they donated 110 blankets to the school, to ensure learners stay warm.
“The foundation is also making the commitment that 200 books will be donated with the help from Futballing Girls that was founded by Moonira Ramathula to empower girls and women. The books will help learners acquire knowledge and improve their vocabulary.”
The principal, Robinson Phooko thanked the foundation.
“May the foundation grow strong and continue assisting institutions and communities. We feel blessed that you’re able to help us, as we have learners who are intellectually impaired and autistic. These are the kind of learners we serve proudly and people like you really make a worthwhile contribution.”
