See the Netball World Cup trophy in Polokwane

The Netball World Cup trophy is currently touring various areas in the province and will be welcomed in the city by Sports, Arts and Culture MEC Nakedi Sibanda-Kekana and Mayor John Mpe.

POLOKWANE- The Department of Sport is calling all aspiring netball players and community members to come to the Jack Botes park in Polokwane on June 11 to have a glimpse of the Netball World Cup trophy.

The trophy is currently touring various areas in the province and will be welcomed by the MEC, Nakedi Sibanda-Kekana and Polokwane Mayor, John Mpe.

From Polokwane, the trophy will move to the Lebowakgomo Mall in the Lepelle-Nkumpi Municipality.

The trophy will be lifted by the eventual winners of the tournament in the first Netball World Cup to be held on African soil when the event takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from July 28 to August 6.

Kenny Mathivha, spokesperson for the department said everyone is invited to see the World Cup trophy.

“It will be a stop-visit event and short programme. The president of Netball South African, Cecilia Molekwane, the MEC, the mayor and heads of federations will be there. We are calling the community members to come and see the trophy.”
