Polokwane golfer Jannie clinches Koro Open title
Jannie Bronkhorst beat 81 golfers from various clubs in the province who participated in the 2023 Koro Open Championship.
POLOKWANE- Well-known golfer from the city and member of the Polokwane Golf Club, Jannie Bronkhorst, won the 2023 Koro Open Championship held at Koro Creek Bushveld Golf Estate on May 27.
Bronkhorst beat 81 golfers from various clubs in the province who participated in the event that was played in a stroke-play format.
Bronkhorst, one of the longest serving members of the Polokwane Golf Club, said the victory set a good tone for him ahead of the South African Championships set for September.
“I will be playing at the South African Amateur Golf Championship in September, so the victory is good motivation ahead of the event. I played well at the Koro Open and have won a couple of opens prior to this one too, so I knew what to expect.”
JP Ellis, operations manager at Limpopo Golf Union, said Bronkhorst’s consistency is key to his success.
“Golf is a tricky sport because things don’t always go your way, but Jannie has managed to win a lot of major golf events in the province. He has been putting well too these past years, he is solid and he is a contender in all competitions. We congratulate him on his victory.”
