LIC appoints new coach

Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) appointed former South African u/19 player, Dumisa Makalima as their new men's team head coach for the upcoming two seasons.

Makalima, who succeeds Israel Hlengani, boasts a lot of national and international experience after playing trade at Eastern Province Cricket Club and Highveld Lions Cricket Club.

The 40-year-old mentor from Eastern Cape was also the coach and video analyst for the Proteas women’s team and assistant coach for South African Universities cricket team.

The CEO of LIC, Tommy Phiri said Makalima brings in a wealth of experience in the team.

“He is a full package and a high-profile coach. He has silverware in his cabinet and he has been doing well in first-class cricket.

“We loved his strategic plans, professionalism and he is also passionate about cricket development. We are looking forward to working with him.”

Makalima said he is ready to help the Limpopo Impala players to play at the top flight of South African cricket.

“I have signed a two-year contract with the union and I am looking forward to work with players and help them achieve their goals.”
