Pool of talent ready to take on championship

Swimmers of Eagar Aquatics, Ethan Anderson and Bernard Mentz will represent the province at the Senior National South Swimming Championship

The championship is scheduled to take place in Durban from 7 to 11 April.

The swimming club will also be sending some of their prolific swimmers, Junior Pheeha, Jeining Zeng and Abigail van Niekerk to the Junior National Swimming Championship penciled for 27 and 28 March in Pretoria.

Head coach and founder of Eagar Aquatics, Douggie Eagar said all their swimmers have the ability to bring home the silverware. “They have prepared well and they have been training hard. All of them have shown good qualities in their previous swimming events.

“We are more than confident that they will do well at the event,” Eagar said.

He also added that one of their top swimmers, Christine Sabombite will participate in the Olympic trials set for 7 and 11 April in Port Elizabeth.

Christine was chosen from a pool of promising young South African swimmers who performed well at the Swimming South Africa’s training camp held in February at Stellenbosch. “She is one of our talented and hardworking swimmers in our club and we believe she will do well at the event.”
