‘Local all-rounder’s inclusion will pave the way for other young cricketers’

Limpopo Impala Cricket u/19 academy framework head coach, Ntsako Emmanuel Sono says the recent inclusion of Khaif Patel in the Titans' Cubs Week will pave the way for other young cricketers in the province.

The 17-year-old was the only player from the academy to be selected to represent the Titans.

The Cubs Week is known for preparing players that will be selected to represent South Africa at the u/19 World Cup next year, in the West Indies.

Khaif competed against players from Mpumalanga, Ekurhuleni and Pretoria.

“We have something to build on. Most of the players are motivated by Khaif’s progress. They all want to be close to him and learn from him. He did well and he is a different player now. Even though he didn’t spend a lot of time in front of the wicket, he had ample opportunity to show off his bowling skills.”

Ntsako further stated that Khaif’s inclusion in the Titans team is a clear indication that hard work does pay off.

“This is an eye opener for most of our boys to say anything is possible and the sky is the limit. We are going somewhere and we would like to see more cricketers from the province be included in professional cricket club structures.”
