Around they go: Local drivers take top honours

Polokwane drivers showed off their driving skills in six classes during the recent South African Radio Drivers Association (SARDA) Electric Off-Road 1/10 Scale Championship.

Polokwane drivers showed off their driving skills in six classes during the recent South African Radio Drivers Association (SARDA) Electric Off-Road 1/10 Scale Championship.
The Bushveld Model Racing Club participated in the 2WD Stock, 4WD Stock, Stadium Stock, Short Course Trucks, 2WD Modified and the 4WD Modified classes.
For the past 20 years, local driver, Rikus Janse van Vuuren, who lives for the sport always just fell short of first place, but 2020 is Rikus’ year and he is now the South African champion in 2WD Modified class.
Other drivers who made their mark are Quintin Baker, the 2WD Stock national champion and Wikus Coetzer from the Viking Racing Club in Tzaneen who took three titles in the 4WD Stock, Short Course Trucks and Stadium Trucks classes.
Baker also took second place in the 4WD Stock class.
Peter Jansen van Vuuren took third place in the Stadium Trucks class with Franna Jacobs and Kevin Rossouw claiming silver in the Stadium Stock and the Short Course Trucks classes respectively.
