The Tskkia Tokon Samurai Karate team had a blast celebrating their year-end function over the weekend.
The function was held at Splash in Dalmada to allow the team and their families to enjoy the afternoon in a family-friendly environment. Sensei Fazlin Jardien says she is tremendously proud of each and every one who walked away with a trophy. She says that 2020 was a tough year and everyone deserves an award.
“We had to improvise on how we train to keep to Covid-19 regulations. One of the hardest things was practicing social distancing. This meant that we had to let go of some of our contact categories and find a way to practice with no contact.”
Fazlin says it is important to remember that anything is possible if your head is in the game.
“Yes, we had to reinvent ourselves but at the end of the day, that is all that matters.”
