The Capricorn Endurance Club in collaboration with the club of Letaba hosted a successful 40km, 80km and 120km ride. During the ride, riders and their horses’ capabilities and skills were put to the test.
Capricorn riders performed well during the event with Misha Piek claiming victory in the 80km back-to-back junior rider category with a time of 04:27:56. Danielle Breed finished in second place.
The following day, 49 riders entered, of which five were brave enough and had more than enough faith in their horses to compete in the 120km enduro.
Riders started the long journey at 03:00. Capricorn riders, Steven Posekufa’s time of 08:11:20 was good enough to clinch the gold medal in the lightweight category.
Anika Steynberg took second place in the standard weight category with a time of 07:10:37. Her horse was also awarded as best prepared for the 120km enduro.
Other Capricorn riders who finished on the podium are Leone de Kok, Zané Barnard, Clara Barnard and Yolandi Boon.
“Participants enjoyed every moment of the enduro and some described it as one of the most technical and challenging rides in a long time in the district.
Capricorn and Letaba want to thank all our sponsors for their continuous support. The next enduro will be hosted on 1 February,” Rioni Combrink of Capricorn Endurance Club said.
