Chief Operations Officer of Polokwane City Football Club, Tincy Tema has blamed a lack of game management for their 3-2 loss against log leaders of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
City were in a commanding position for the better part of the first half from Lesiba Nku and Jabu Maluleke’ goals but threw away the lead in the second half of the match.
Tema said the lack of game management is one of their historical problems and has forced them to drop crucial points in their past matches.
“This is one of our biggest problems in the team. We have seasoned players in our back line but we keep conceding in the critical stages of the match. We have faith in our technical team and we are hopeful that the players will manage their upcoming matches better.”
The defeat saw City moving from 13th position on the log to 15th with five matches in hand. They are aiming for maximum points against SuperSport United, Highlands Park, Bloemfontein Celtic, Mamelodi Sundowns and Wits whom they face in the last matches of the league.
“Those will be difficult matches for various reasons. Some are fighting for the league title and some want to remain in the top eight bracket.
“However, we know that we are not in a good position in the league and we need to win matches in order to move up the log,” Tema concluded.
