American basketball star Angel McCoughtry empowered local aspiring players with basketball basics and skills during her visit in the province last Wednesday.
The two times gold medalist who plays for the Women’s National Basketball Association-affiliated team Atlanta Dream in America conducted clinics in Mahwelereng, Mokopane and Mankweng.
Speaking at her welcoming dinner hosted by Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) at a hotel in Polokwane last Wednesday evening, McCoughtry said that she was happy with the strides the clubs are making to develop basketball, despite lack of resources. “I saw a lot of commitment, zeal and desire from the aspiring basketball players. I had a good time in all the areas that I have visited. I fell in love with Limpopo. It is like Santiago and Califonia where the people are lovely and peaceful,” McCoughtry said.
LTA Spokesperson, Mike Tauatsoala said they were happy to host McCoughthry. “We took her to some of our major tourism attractions in the province and she was pleased. We are happy with her endeavours to capacitate the aspiring basketball players in the province,” Tautsoala said.
