PPCC successfully hosts 2019 Lentetrap

Cyclists in the province braved the cold weather experienced in the province on Saturday to compete in the 2019 Lentetrap hosted by Polo­kwane Pedallers Cycling Club (PPCC) at the Polo­kwane Game Reserve.
The first man home in the 72 km was Heino Malan who finished in a time of 2:48.16 while Chantel Els triumphed in the women’s category with a time of 3:21.35. The 36 km half marathon for men was won by Bjorn Nel in a time of 1:25.05. Karishma Landman beat her female opponents in the same race as she crossed the finish line in a time of 1:40.55. Charlden Nel made male participants in the 16 km fun ride eat his dust as he finished first in a time of 40:41 while Annelize Nel emerged victorious in the women’s division with a time of 50:15.
A total of 278 riders participated in the marathon in categories that included elite, sub-vet, vets, master and grand master. The 36 km half marathon catered for junior, youth and sub-junior divisions while the 16 km fun ride accommodated cyclists competing in sub-junior, sprogs and nippers age groups.
