The tenth annual Iron Crown Trail Run saw well over 200 athletes braving the cold weather and challenging trail at Magoebaskloof on Saturday.
The popular and well-managed annual event once again attracted a large number of runners and spectators. Participants endured the mountainous trail while those that could not run walked part of the track to enjoy the beautiful scenery between Magaboeskloof and Haenertsburg.
In the 22 km Kumbalani Ngende finished first overall in the men’s category with a time of 1:58.13 followed by Gabriel Makwola in second place. The first woman to complete the 22 km was Michelle Kruger a time of 2:27.13 with Angie Paterson the runner-up.
Female runner Johanna Seemela completed the run within an hour which earned her the first overall position in the 10 km. The second female in is Louise van den Dool. In the men’s category Walter van Wyk top scored with a time of 1:00.15 with Johan Venter claiming second place.
