Following their recent dismal performance in the Premier Soccer League the management of Baroka Football Club on Monday visited the gravesite and house of the late African National Congress stalwart, Peter Mokaba in Mankweng to ask for blessings.
Baroka has a bad home record having won only six league matches in three years at Peter Mokaba Stadium
Premier Stan Mathabatha, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Thandi Moraka and Peter Mokaba’s sister Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana, who is also the MEC for Social Development, were among the persons who joined the Baroka delegation at the Mokaba house.
Spokesperson for the club, Richard Mashabane said they were hopeful that their visit to the gravesite and house would change the team’s fortunes.
“Although we have been using the stadium since our days in the National First Division we have never visited his house. We have seen that the team has no luck playing at the Peter Mokaba Stadium so we decided to visit the Mokaba family to ask for blessings as we are using the stadium named after him. The visit also gave us an opportunity to present the Telkom Knockout Trophy to the family and the Premier,” Mashabane explained.
