Mayoral Cluster Road Races build up to final event

To create awareness of Polokwane Municipality’s annual Mayoral Road race that is scheduled for 1 May, the municipality will host build-up races in the Moletjie (23 February), Seshego (2 March), Molepo/Maja/Chuene (9 March), Aganang (16 March) and Sebayeng/Dikgale (30 March) clusters. The venues are Mmotong, Seshego Stadium, Tshebela High School, Aganang municipal offices and Bana Bathari Special School, respectively.
The first race, in the Mankweng cluster, already took place on Saturday and all the coming races will start at 07:00 and distances of 5 and 10 km will be run. Entry is free and registrations are done between 06:00 and 07:00 on the days of the races.
According to Thipa Selala, spokesperson for the municipality, the aim of the races are to build community spirit and to promote participation in sport, a healthy lifestyle and smart living.
The final marathon on 1 May will cover distances of 5, 10, 21,1 and 42,2 km and will start at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium at 06:00, with prior registration at the venue from 05:00. Further details will be published later.
