First road race of the year draws more than 1 200 entries from runners

Athletes gathered from as early as 05:00 in order to register at the starting point of the annual Seeff Jaguar Polokwane 3-in-1 race hosted in the city on Saturday.
According to Polokwane Athletic Club media relations officer, Caryn Rathmann the event drew 396 entries for the 5 km, 474 for the 10 km and 338 for the 21,1 km, totalling 1 208 athletes attempting the route.
It was JJ van der Merwe who finished the 10 km first in a time of 34,33 followed by Pelly Lamola and Rufus Photo in second and third place respectively. Tinyiko Nukeri was the first female across the finish line in a time of 49:33.
Emmanuel Ramohlale completed the 21,1 first in a time of 1:15.38 followed by Timothy Munzhekele in second and Sifiso Matibela third. Gift Ramalele won the female category in a time of 1:41.28 with Geneva Rahala and Pearl Hughes second and third respectively.
