Supporters of Black Leopards Football Club from Venda and surrounds will have to wait a bit longer to watch their team play against the current champions of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Mamelodi Sundowns.
The fixture scheduled for Wednesday at the Thohoyandou Stadium was postponed by PSL as the date clashes with Sundowns‘s Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League preliminary round fixture against the Leones Vegetarianos Football Club on Tuesday in Equatorial Guinea.
The PSL is yet to announce a new date for the encounter but that match is not the only one affected. The Brazilians boost a few former Leopards players in their squad with the likes of Hlompho Kekana, Tiyani Mabunda and Sphelele Mkhulise.
Spokesperson for Black Leopards, Berry Ramunenyiwa said the postponement of the match is a blessing in disguise. “We are still dealing with the departure of our coach. We have not yet found a new coach. The postponement will give us ample time to prepare well whilst finding a replacement for former coach, Joel Masutha,” he said.
Assistant coach, Morgan Shivambu is in charge of the team’s training while the appointment of a new coach is awaited.
