Black Leopards Football Club is looking for an experienced coach who can take the team to greater heights and help them stay afloat in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) according to club spokesperson Berry Ramunenyiwa. This follows the resignation of their head coach, Joel Masutha on Monday.
Masutha, a former goalkeeper of the club, played a pivotal role in the team’s promotion to the elite league last season but struggled to establish himself.
In his last 11 PSL matches he managed to secure two only victories, drew three and lost six encounters. He leaves the Venda based outfit in the 14th position of the league.
Ramunenyiwa said they would have wanted Masutha to stay but the results were not coming. “We appreciate his service but we need someone who is more experienced. His resignation is good for the team because we need a coach that will suit the uniqueness of Black Leopards,” said.
Asked if they have indentified any potential suitors for the vacated position Ramunenyiwa said the vacancy was still open to everyone with a coaching experience.
“We are looking for a formidable coach, be it local or international. We want someone who can give us results,” remarked Ramunenyiwa.
Masutha said his decision to resign was for the benefit of everyone at the team to allow someone else to take over.
“After the results were not forthcoming I sat down with the management to find a way forward and we both agreed that things are not happening the way they are supposed to be so we reached an amicable agreement to part ways.”
