Spectators who braved the winter cold were treated to some hot, adrenaline filled racing at Polokwane Oval Raceway’s Winter Trophy on Saturday. With the race starting sooner than usual spectators were able to enjoy the welcome sunlight before having to face the evening cold.
On the raceway there was no time to complain about the cold as the heat was on between drivers in their respectively classes.
In the Ninja Midget class Jayden Keating took first place with Wian Jordaan claiming victory in the Rookie class. Shaun Keating was handed the chequered flag in the Stockrods class while Marnus du Plessis remained unbeatable in his 1660 modified vehicle.
Ockert Britz and Pieter Venter were the favourites in Hotrods and 2,1 litre Modifieds class respectively while Piet Venter top scored in the Super Saloon class. The Spints always ensure great entertainment and this time it was no less with Andries Marx racing all the way to the top of the podium.
Trophies were also handed to racers across all classes who obtained most points during the event. Piet Venter was announced winner followed by Wian Jordaan and Jayden Keating.
Motorsport enthusiasts are reminded of the next oval event on 25 August.
