Professional and amateur athletes are in for a one-of-a-kind experience when Pietersburg Road Runners (PRR) in conjunction with Cansa Polokwane and Protea Hotel Ranch Resort hosts the first Ranch Trail Run 4 Cansa on 25 November.
Apart from enjoying the spectacular scenery of the route participants will have the satisfaction of running for a good cause as all proceeds will go towards Polokwane Cansa Care Centre.
The venue is the resort on the R101 and runners have a choice of three distances namely 5, 10 or 15 km.
The registration desk will be open from 05:00 to 06:45 on the day of the race. The entry form is also published in this week’s edition of Polokwane Observer.
Entry fees are R40, R60 and R80 for the three distances respectively and a temporary licence can be obtained at the registration desk at R30.
The 15 km run is set to start at 07:00, the 10 km at 07:10 and the 5 km race five minutes thereafter.
Medals will be handed to the first 600 finishers and prize money to the category winners. Winners must be present at the prize giving to claim their prizes.
The race offers athletes a route through the bush and close to the lion camp at the resort.
The race will be run under the rules of Athletics South African, International Association of Athletics Federations and Limpopo Athletics. Strict rules will apply such as that runners are to remain on the designated route only, obey marshals’ instructions at all times, refrain from littering and not disturb or harass the wildlife.
