Local athletes can look forward to one last race this year when Pietersburg Road Runners (PRR) in conjunction with Cansa Polokwane and Protea Hotel Ranch Resort hosts the first Ranch Trail Run 4 Cansa on 25 November.
The event will be held at the resort on the R101 outside Polokwane over distances of 5, 10 and 15 km. Entries can be done at the venue on the day of the race from 05:00 to 06:45 with the 15 km runners to start at 07:00. The 10 km is set to start at 07:10 and the 5 km race five minutes thereafter.
Entry fees are R40, R60 and R80 for the 5 km, 10 km and 15 km respectively and a temporary licence can be obtained at the registration desk at R30.
Medals will be handed to the first 600 finishers and prize money to the category winners.
One of the organisers Colinda Potgieter said the race will offer athletes something remarkable as the trail will lead them through the bush and the lion camp at the resort.
“Strict rules are implemented and the race will be run under the rules of Athletics South African, International Association of Athletics Federations and Limpopo Athletics. Athletes should follow the designated route only, obey marshals’ instructions, refrain from littering and not disturb or harass wildlife,” Potgieter said.
All funds raised to be donated to Polokwane Cansa Care Centre.
