Polokwane City Football Club will have maximum points in mind when they take on Golden Arrows at Princes Magogo Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
City has been struggling with form lately, losing four of their seven Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches.
Their dismal show in the league sees them in 14th position with a meagre five points while Arrows sits comfortably in the second position on 13 points after seven matches.
Polokwane City FC Spokesperson Vusi Ntimane said they were aware of their form in the league and promised their fans that they will start collecting maximum points. “We want to see them smiling again and we assure them that we will double our efforts in every match. We are going to start with Golden Arrows. We have a good record against them. We drew against them in the first round of the League last season, we beat them in the second round and we always enjoy playing in Durban and so I don’t see ourselves losing the match. We are going to maintain that winning record against them,” Ntimane said.
He also mentioned that the two week Fifa international match break was a blessing in disguise as it gave their technical team ample time to prepare for the match. “Before the break we lost four matches and we were not doing well at all. The break gave our technical team more time to indentify some of the loopholes in the team and also to keep the boys refocused,” Ntimane said.
He also congratulated the MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) team that beat Free State Stars 3-0 at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
The victory sees the MDC team moving from 12 position to 10th with eight points after six matches. “They are doing well. Congratulations to the Head Coach Wilie Moloto and his technical team. We are saying to them they must continue with their good job,” Ntimane said. The MultiChoice Diski Challenge is a PSL reserve league initiative aimed at fast tracking the development of young players into the PSL league.
