Nedbank Cup Ke Yona Team Captain, Bongani Mbuli (20) has been given an opportunity to train with Baroka Football Club by the Nedbank Cup organisers.
Mbuli stood out during the team’s final match against 2016 Nedbank Cup champions Supersport United at Sinaba Stadium on Sunday.
He is expected to join Baroka FC in October and spend entire month at Seleteng, Ga-Mphahlele training with the team in the hope of securing a professional contract.
The young defender was unearthed by Nedbank football scouts Shakes Mashaba, Owen da Gama, Khabo Zondo and Mike Mangena during the Nedbank talent search programme in May.
The scouts go around the country every year during May to final raw talent and groom them into the next crop of football stars.
The decision to sign Mbuli or not will be made by Baroka FC Chief Executive Officer Morgan Mammilla and team coach Kgokolo Thobejane. “In football no player owns a position and that is why we sign 30 players or more,” Mammilla explained.
