Former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Elias Ngwepe has joined the National First Division (NFD) outfit Magesi Football Club in Moletjie.
Ngwepe, who hails from the area previously played for Polokwane City Football Club, Platinum Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic and Maritzburg United.
The 38-year-old defender featured in their match against Kaizer Chiefs at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday and was substituted in the second half.
Coach of Megesi Football Club, Jacky Ledwaba said they welcomed Ngoepe’s presence in the team.
“He is an experienced campaigner and brings a wealth of experience to the team. He has played for many teams in the Premier Soccer League and we are confident that his experience will rub off the other players,” Ledwaba said.
Magesi will play their first match of the division against Thanda Zulu Royal at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on 27 August.
“We are done with the preseason matches. We played Kaizer Chiefs in the Fame Charity Cup and although we lost but we showed zeal and character. All the teams want to start the new season well and we are no different,” Ledwaba said.
